Preparation no 2

We went out today, New Year's day, to find waterproof jackets because I am sure we will be setting up or pulling down camp in the wet.  Queensland is under water at the moment.  I chose a wet summer for this.  I may yet regret this!  Can you easily get waterproof clothing in Queensland.  It's nearly a case of "forget it".  We started at the hardware store - all their gumboots serious wet weather gear was sold out - nothing on the shelves!  Gosh, we've been in a drought for about 10 years!  No-one ever wanted this stuff until now!  We tramped Indooroopilly shoppingtown, our local mall, and tracked waterproof nylon jackets at a not to trendy menswear shop.  No-one else had anything remotely suitable because it's not fashionable at the moment to wear nylon.  The trekking shop had what we wanted for about $300!  We finally paid only $40 a jacket.  Would be nice to feel we didn't have to use them!

Road Trip to Adelaide (with dogs!)

We are going on a road trip with the dogs!  The excuse is that we want to hear greg play at National Music camp which is held in Adelaide in January.  We have nearly got all the "collection" of goodies together to be able to do about 400 kms a day and camp each night at caravan parks where the dogs are welcome.  You should see DH trying to put up the tent in the back yard!  I had it figured out but couldn't explain to him how to do it.  And he complains his engineering students can't think in 3D!  The tent comes courtesy of my parents and is an extended dome tent, quite big.  Once we get it up for real I will give a picture of it.  Do you realise it is nearly impossible to get good wet weather gear to wear without it it costing 100's her in Queensland?  It's the last purchase we need to make.  We have the tent, the crate for the dogs, chairs, table, fridge ----yes, fridge for the car!  Of course we are organised!  We don't want to skimp but are too stingy to pay for motels, plus the dogs wouldn't be welcome!
